  I awoke to find the whole place covered with snow in Tokyo.

 朝起きたら東京は一面の銀世界でした。

　I went to a metropolitan garden named Rikugien to take photos. It is located a few minutes walking from our house.

 我が家の近くの六義園に写真を撮りに行きました。

 Cherry blossom tree is in full bloom with snow flowers.

 桜の木も雪の花で満開です。


　The depth of fallen snow was 4 cm.

 　雪は四センチ積もりました。


 We had fallen snow in six years in Tokyo.

 東京では六年ぶりの積雪になりました。

 We went to Yumenoshima tropical greenhouse dome in Tokyo.

 夢の島熱帯植物館に行って来ました。


　Entering the dome, there were big falls.

 入り口を入るとすぐに大きな滝が有りました。

 We could see various kind of flowers in this dome.

 ここで、多くの花を見て来ました。


 Dombeya wallichii.

 ドンベアウォリッキー、アオギリ科です。


　Pentas.

　ペンタス、アカネ科です。


　Amazon lily.

 アマゾンリリー、ヒガンバナ科です。

　There were many orchids in this dome too.

  ラン科の植物も沢山ありました。

 カトレアコクシネア、ラン科です。


　Angraecum seaquipedale.

 アングレカムサスキュペダーレ、ラン科です。


　Dendrobium phalaenopsis.

 デンドロビウムファレノプシス、ラン科です。

　We had a very pleasant time in this dome.

  Thers are very famous Lucky cat mascots in Japan.

 招き猫のお話です。


　The lucky cat mascot. This cat is beckoning you to come here.

  Why this cat is lucky cat ?  There are many explanations about the lucky cat story.

 
 The most famous story is as follows.

   Looking at a cat bekoning, people moved to a temple where the cat is located. So they could escape from a disaster.


  The interest thing is cat's gesture.

 At first open a hand then  clench a fist means " come on"  in Japan.

 At first clench a fist then  open a hand means " go away" in the West.

 Both gestures look  like the same for western people.


 So if you have a Japanese friend, please be careful about the gesture.

 One of the famous birthplace is Imado Jinja Shrine at Asakusa in Tokyo.

 If you come to Japan,you can find many lucky cat mascots at retail shops,Japanese style bars and souvenir shops.


        
 This cat is bekoning you to enter the shop.

  Staying at the hotel,we got up early　next day  to see Light Red Mt.Fuji.

  ホテルに滞在して、紅富士を見るために早く起きました。


　Mt.fuji with the bright moon. 
  There was the moon shining in early morning.

 早朝、有明の月がまだ輝いていました。


　Light red Mt.Fuji.  We could see this Mt.Fuji just after the Sunrise.

 日の出直後の紅富士（べにふじ）です。

 朝の富士山です。

　 We left the hotel and went to the south side of Mt.Fuji.

 ホテルをチェックアウトして、富士山の南側に行きました。


　Mt.Fuji from Asagirikougen highlands.  Mt.Fuji was covered with a few snow in this side.

 朝霧高原から見た富士山です。こちら側は雪が少なかったです。

　Mt.Fuji with Lake Tanukiko. If there were no breeze,we could see the reflection of Mt.Fuji.　Taken by wide-angle lens.

　広角レンズで撮った 田貫湖から見た富士山です。　風が無ければ、逆さ富士が見えるそうです。

　It was the first time for us to be able to see these beautiful landscapes of Mt.Fuji.

 この様な綺麗な富士山の景色を見られたのは初めてです。

 We went to see Mt.Fuji to Yamanashi prefecture.

 富士山を見に山梨県に行きました。

  We went to see winter peones at the precincts of Toshogu shrine in Ueno park.

 冬牡丹を見に上野の東照宮の境内に行きました。


　Each peony was covered with straw hood.

 全ての冬牡丹は藁のフードで覆われてました。

 We stayed in a hotel at Kyusyu during the period encompassing the close of the old year and the start of the new year.

 年末年始は大分県の別府市にあるホテルで過ごしました。


　We went to see stone figures of the Buddha in Usuki city on the last day of the year.

 大晦日には臼杵市に石仏を見に行きました。

 We went to a hot  spring looking tour on the New Year's Day.

 元旦は温泉を見て歩きました。通称「地獄巡り」と言われています。

　　After the hot spring tour,we went to see  falls.

　We went to Yuhuin city on the way to coming back to Tokyo on January 2nd.

 １月２日は東京への帰りの途中、湯布院を散歩しました。　写真は金鱗湖（きんりんこ）という小さな湖です。

　We enjoyed a 4 day tour in Kyusyu very much.

　４日間の九州の旅を楽しみました。

 We went to see　the Illumination fair near to Tokyo railroad station.

 光都東京と呼ばれるイルミネイションの祭典に行きました。

 丸の内仲通りです。

　I took this photo with a flare of flashlight. There were many flowers.

 フラッシュ撮影すると、花が沢山写りました。


　With a flare of flashlight, There are many cherry blossom trees in full bloom.

 啓翁桜（けいおうざくら）という山形県で育てられた満開の桜も有りました。


　There are many heartful messages written on these lanterns for for the disaster victims of the Great earthquake in March 11th.

 東北大地震の被災者に対する心からのメッセージがこれらのランタンに書かれていました。


　The word symbolize this year in Japan is Bonds, which was chosen by many citizen's voting

 Japanese people realized the　most important things were the bonds between people.

 今年の日本を象徴する言葉は絆です。　日本の人々はその大切さを学びました。

  There is a bridge named Holy bridge　in Tokyo.
 
 聖橋（ひじりばし）という橋が、東京のお茶の水に有ります。

  聖橋です。


　We can see three kind of trains from this bridge.
  Subway train with red stripe,Japan Railroad Chuo-line train with orange stripe and JR Sobu-line train with yellow stripe.

 地下鉄丸ノ内線、ＪＲ中央線、同じく総武線です。

　The subway train appears here on the ground to cross the river.

  この地下鉄は川を越えるために、地上に出て来ました。

　Why this bridge is called Holy bridge?


 There is a building called Sacred Hall at Yushima near the bridge.

 湯島聖堂がこの橋の近くにあります。


　There is a building named Holy Resurrection Cathedral at the another side of the bridge.

 橋の反対側に聖ニコライ堂があります。

　The words Sacred and Holy would become the same word if these words were translated into Japanese.

 There is a holy building in each side of the bridge,so this bridge is called Holy bridge by Japanese.

 この橋の両側に聖なる建物があるので、この橋は聖橋と呼ばれています。
